2021

2021
We’re all asking ourselves the very same question, what will 2021 bring us? Will it be brighter, better or even return us to a more ‘normal’ state of living? Who knows…but we must push forward and make the most of what we have and live in the present.

We’re certainly keeping our spirits high for 2021, here in the distillery. Although off to a rocky start, us islanders are made tough and have the ability to acclimatize to the changes that life brings. Usually adapting to changes in the weather or the obstacles associated with living on an Island, this time we can relate worldwide with the issues we are all heartbreakingly facing.

It’s onwards and upwards from here on and we’ve proudly fired up Ada (our beautiful copper still) and made the first number of batches of the new year. Ready for a 70cl measure of our island spirit to be bottled, corked, labelled and packaged here in our distillery. From our hands to your home, our island spirit makes the whopping journey from the Isle of Barra to mainland UK. To be enjoyed from the comfort of your own home, the taste of Barra, distilled with love, passion and the waves of our island sea crashing through our veins!

We would of course be lying if we said we aren’t hopeful for the return of familiarity and more so, to welcome new and existing friends, family and customers to our little island. We severely miss the seasonal buzz brought to our homeland with the flow of ferries and flights daily. The occasional gathering in the community halls for a ceilidh and of course, a number of drams in Castlebay Bar…

But more so, for us we miss sharing our island spirit with you in person. The lack of events, gatherings, catch-ups and meetings throughout 2020 has got us going a little stir crazy for socialisation. We live in hope that at some point this year, we’ll be able to get out to a tradeshow at least and return to doing what we do best – pouring a Barra G&T and discussing all things Barra!

However, we’re working safely behind the scenes on a number of new projects (which are top secret by the way) and hope to update you on these throughout 2021, all going well of course! Don’t even think about edging for a hint, because our lips are sealed for now.

For the foreseeable, you’ll find our small, close-knit team working hard and steady from Scotland’s most westerly distillery. Where our workdays are filled with fun, laughter and of course banter. We find ourselves extremely privileged to continue to work and rely on each other through our daily tasks and challenges.

From our distillery team to you, we wish you all a blessed and prosperous 2021. May it be filled with positivity, happiness, love and our island spirit!

Take care, stay safe and remember that brighter times are ahead.
