Wholesale Announcement
Previously, our Barra Atlantic Gin has been kept strictly in line with direct sales from our website and island shop. Branching into Click & Collect locations throughout the UK successfully, we have decided that now is the right time to get with the times.
In line with the restrictions we have all faced in this past year during the pandemic, we have made the decision to share our island spirit on a larger scale. Although our Click & Collect scheme will remain in place for the exceptional businesses we currently work with, we have made the decision to step into wholesale.
Going forward, expect to see our Barra Atlantic Gin pop-up in a broad offering of retailers. From quirky whisky shops to wine and spirit stores, we are delighted to have our island spirit readily available to you!
To keep a tab on our retail stockists, simply use our stockist map on our ecommerce site!

Island Collaboration
We’re delighted to broaden our offerings from our island shop by welcoming a fellow local business into our distillery doors, The Herring Girl Collection!
“In island culture, the herring girl is viewed as a hardworking, strong woman who was not scared of hard graft. I hope, through the Herring Girl collection, we can pay tribute to their resilience and thank them for keeping these unique traditions alive for us to take on.” - Margaret Anne Elder
Herring Girl Knitwear was established in Autumn 2019 with the first showing of its inaugural CY range at The Royal National Mod – the Gaelic language’s premier cultural festival.
Five handknitters on Barra are producing high-quality clothing such as guernseys (fisherman’s jumper), scarves, shawls, hats and gloves as well as cushion covers and bed throws for the home.
The luxury handknits have gathered a healthy local following with demand growing since its launch. Herring Girl has now secured orders from all over the world and is now working in partnership with some retailers across the west Highlands and Islands to stock the woollens.
The Herring Girl products are available to purchase from our island shop only and are not available via our website.
