Giving Back!

It’s been quite the week here on Barra, not to mention a successful one at that. From a spontaneous mid-week day off for staff, to giving back to the local community. We’re pleased to reflect on our working days.

Let’s start with the football, I’m sure the majority of the country tuned in on Tuesday night to watch the Scotland v Croatia Game? Well, our team were all keen to do so as well, after all it’s been a long time in waiting to watch Scotland in the Euros.
As a thank you to our dedicated team, we gave the gift of a spontaneous day off on Wednesday to allow our staff to enjoy a few drams on Tuesday night during the game. With a skeleton staff seeing the daily tasks through on Wednesday, we’re confident that a great time was had by all. Ok the result wasn’t as we hoped, but it was good to watch all the same and the mid-week break was a welcoming addition. We can’t confirm nor deny that there were a few sore heads on this day but our employees were showing smiles all round!

Moving on from the fun and games, we were delighted to receive a long-awaited delivery into our distillery. Personalised hi-vis vests with ‘Isle of Barra Nursery’ detailed on the front and back were well received in the post. A project in which we had been working on recently behind the scenes and one that is very close to our hearts.
We were delighted to work alongside Castlebay Nursery to provide the local children with hi-vis vests, which will be worn during their outings around the Island and promote safety for children. Giving back to our local community has always been at the forefront of what we’d like to achieve and to offer a small gesture to help our local children, is something we are proud to sponsor.
Now if you see a gathering of little yellow minions walking by, don’t be alarmed, it’s just the Nursery children in their new hi-vis vests!
This is a small contribution toward our goals but a great place to start. After all, safety comes first and the youth are our future.

If you’re following us on social media, you’ll have seen and heard this week that we are proud to announce the shipment of our Barra Atlantic Gin from our distillery to Switzerland. A joyful announcement and partnership to make and one that we will have more information on in next weeks journal for you to read.

Another day, another delivery. It seems Royal Mail and Barratlantic are never far from our door. Our distillery shop is fully stocked and replenished with ishga skincare products, our Barra Atlantic Gin is awaiting its journey to its new home and we filled our shelves with a fresh order of Sarah Leask Studio custom made chopping boards, coasters and table mats. There’s plenty to go round.

If you’re visiting Barra this summer, remember we’re open Monday to Saturday, 10am – 5pm. You’ll be greeted with a very warm welcome from Sandy, our fantastic shop assistant. Sandy brings the chat and pours a mighty good sample of Gin for each and every customer entering our store.
Don’t be a stranger!
