Isle of Barra Distillers Is Growing

Isle of Barra Distillers Is Growing

We would like to introduce to you, our fantastic new Administrative Assistant, Melanie Tamblyn!

Melanie joined our team and journey just three short weeks ago and has already settled into the Barra Gin family and taken to her new role like a Gin to Tonic. We’re delighted to have Melanie on board and to be able to introduce her to you all.

As a new full-time employee to the company, Melanie spends the majority of her day working hard in the Distillery Office. Her day to day tasks includes a high level of customer service, processing online orders and keeping all angles of the company admin up to date.

Originally from Cornwall, Melanie has travelled the world and spent a large majority of her life in Bonnie Scotland. She has blessed the grounds of Barra with her presence for three years now. Melanie is a ray of sunshine in our office and has the brightest personality and smile going! We’re also pleased to report that aside from our Island Spirit, Melanie is accustomed to a glass or two of champagne as one of her favourite tipples, what’s not to love about that? The woman has taste!

Not only is welcoming Melanie onto our team an incredible movement for us but in more depth, we would like to tell you just how much this means to us. As Melanie is in fact our third employee taken on in the last 6 months, we sit and reflect as from the outset, all of us involved at the Isle of Barra Distillers had hoped and aimed to grow to be present at a time where local employment could be created here on the Isle of Barra. To now be at a stage where we have welcomed three new employees in total in just 6 short months is an incredible achievement and something we had only dreamt of.

During a World Pandemic, where our world was so uncertain, we are humbled to receive the outcome and response from all the support of purchasing a bottle of our Barra Atlantic Gin could bring. The last 6 months have been an incredible turning point for us all at the Isle of Barra Distillers and we are delighted to look back and see just how far we have come.

From creating fresh employment, installing new machinery and even having a second still working away to keep up with demand, it’s been some year behind the scenes. Excitingly we are also awaiting the arrival of our new 300 litre Copper Still which is currently being built by the world-renowned Forsyths.

With the input of the above improvements and an increased work force, we are ready to grow stronger, improve and manage the ever-increasing demand for our Barra Atlantic Gin on another level.

All of this would not have been possible had it not been for you, our customers and friends in the hospitality industry. By showing your support to our Island Spirit, we have enabled an incredible growth, progression and security for our family business.

We’d like to raise a toast, clink glasses and say cheers to the exciting future which lies ahead.

Sláinte!
