Travelling to Barra

Travelling to Barra

The ferry from Oban takes approximately 5 hours, on a nice flat calm day there's nothing more enjoyable than floating on the Atlantic with breath taking scenery. On the other hand when the weather isn't so nice the journey can be quite unpleasant.

The plane flies from Glasgow and takes approximately 1 hour. You will have the amazing experience of landing on the beach if you choose this option. The only place in the world where the plane lands on the beach and where flights are determined by the tide.

You can also come through the islands and get the small ferry from Eriskay, a 40 minute crossing will get you to Barra.

Both ferries are run by Caledonian MacBrayne and the flights are run by Loganair.
