We’ve gone to Switzerland! Well not us personally, we’re still in beautiful Barra, but our multi award-winning Barra Atlantic Gin has reached its final destination in Switzerland and we couldn’t be more excited.
From the Isle of Barra, our Island Spirit has voyaged on its extensive journey from Scotland’s most westerly distillery to mainland UK and onward to its final destination, Switzerland!
We are absolutely delighted to announce that our hard work behind the scenes has paid off and secured this positive partnership with the fantastic team at Glen Fahrn, who with many thanks to, have enabled us to bring Barra Atlantic Gin to Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
A partnership which we are extremely grateful and proud of, it is with great pleasure that our premium Gin is available from Glen Fahrn’s and will be distributed throughout the country to an array of hotels, restaurants/bars and retailers.
This is an extremely positive step forward for us all at the Isle of Barra Distillers. We’re delighted to share a taste of Barra further afield out with the UK and have our Gin scratch another country off the map.
Now a little information on our partner, specialising in whisky and fine spirits, Glen Fahrn launched in June 2005.
“With the idea to do something new and to make a living from something other than "only" computer science! But one step at a time!
With the purchase of a time-honoured 300-year-old property in Mörschwil in 2000, we (Ana and Dieter Messmer) had more than enough space for our lives and our family. In December 2004, a 6-year global IT project ended successfully and suddenly there was a feeling that there was the space and time for new things. And this is how the idea of Glen Fahrn was born.
In essence we wanted to convert our passion for spirits into our very own unique specialty shop. Since the mid-1980s, we have travelled extensively to Scotland, Ireland, France, Italy, Spain and Portugal. And as a consequence, we have developed a great network and most importantly, a lot of experience with noble distillates, port, champagne and wines. This is what we really wanted to share with our friends and customers and in June 2005 it was finally time: Glen Fahrn GmbH was born.”

This is indeed our third country out with the UK that we’ve exported our Island Spirit to and we’re not stopping there. With positive talks in place for a number of other destinations, we’re very hopeful to release more news with you soon.
