Welcome to the Isle of Barra

What a week we’ve had here at the Isle of Barra Distillers! Our small team have had the greatest time welcoming visitors and customers into our distillery shop at long last. We certainly missed our face to face contact and conversations with all you lovely people out there!
That’s right, we’ve worked through the first week of our Distillery Shop opening its doors for business along with our beautiful home opening for tourism. And we have to say, it feels great to see more of a buzz around the Island and in our Shop – even with the restrictions and facemasks.
We’re confident that a visit to Barra is exactly what everyone needs right now, and can definitely say that it’s good for the mind, body and soul!
From our stunning stretches of golden sandy beaches to our Caribbean blue shallow waters which glisten under the sunlight, Barra really does have it all. The tranquillity surrounding our Island home really is very special and can be the perfect escape which we all long for regularly.
Though many of our traditional gatherings have been cancelled for the year, there is still so much on offer for us here. Whether it be gazing at our panoramic sights or hiking up the hills for a bird’s eye view of Barra’s circumference, there really are endless adventures to be had.
Meanwhile behind the scenes in the Distillery, members of our team have been working hard preparing our Island Spirit for a one way journey to Germany! Last week we waved off a pallet of our delicious Gin which set off on a ‘short’ 1,375-mile trip across Europe to its final destination in Germany.
Distilled and bottled on the remote Scottish Island of Barra, our gin has a piece of our home in each bottle. Therefore, it is with great pride that we can share our story far and wide with our friends in other countries.
While our gin is available in Denmark & Germany as well as across the UK, we hope to announce news soon on new developments on where our gin will become available.
This may seem like small baby steps from the outside but for our young company this is great deal of encouragement to be heading in the right direction and growing at a steady pace for our small family run business. The sky’s the limit and who knows what is next on our agenda!
Meanwhile we hope that you are all enjoying the easing of lockdown, the novelty of travel and the finer things in life. We for one are enjoying our freedom and being able to share our beautiful island with new and familiar faces, after a difficult number of months.
Take care and Sláinte!
