Looking forward to the brighter days of spring

It may have been cold and wintery outside our distillery doors but there was a lot of love in the air this February with the launch of our limited edition Sealed with a Kiss Rhubarb and Heather Gin Liqueur.

It’s a product created close to our hearts, our home and our local community. We hand-picked our signature ingredient for our new product from Gàradh a’ Bhàgh a’ Tuath, a local charitable organisation on the island.

Rhubarb & Heather Gin Liqueur has a packed flavour of rhubarb, a spice of ginger & a hint of lemongrass.
We recommend serving neat over ice or to give a delicious depth of flavour to your G&T,
add a 15ml measure into your Barra Atlantic Gin & Tonic.

With many of our customers ordering a bottle to show their love to a special someone this Valentine’s Day, we have been busy shipping out orders. Distilling more batches of our gin and liqueur, bottling it up and packaging orders by hand to be sent out. The weather has not always been on our side, so we have been working hard to get every order shipped out as soon as possible to catch every weather window.
The start of this year has been particularly wild and wintery here on Barra. We are no stranger to the wild winter winds in the Western Isles but we are sure looking forward to the brighter days of spring.

We have a busy year ahead of us with lots of great developments. It really is an exciting time for us, and we are delighted to add a new member to our team.

As the distillery grows so too will our workforce. From the outset, it's been of high importance to us to create new jobs and increase employment opportunities for our locals, which in turn aids our island economy. Our team may be small, but we all work passionately to build and strengthen the Isle of Barra Distillers together.
We are currently on the lookout for a Sales Assistant to join our team. The role will primarily focus on increasing sales between our various channels & driving sales for our individual product lines. We look forward to welcoming a new member to our team.
For more information on this role go to our Facebook page.
It is the people that live here on the Island of Barra that is at the forefront of what we are trying to achieve here at the distillery. Particularly being able to give the youth of the island future employment opportunities.
We were delighted to have the S5 & S6 pupils from Castlebay Secondary School come for a career visit to the distillery this week. They had some fantastic questions for us about the business. We also gave them a background on day to day running of the distillery and the work we do.
We wish them well in their further education and employment. We may have even inspired some future distillers to join us one day.
