World Gin Day

Isn’t Gin wonderful, where would we be without it? In fact, we all love it that much that there is a global celebration of it annually.
Whilst life hasn’t returned to full normality as of yet, World Gin Day was a little different for us this year. We took advantage of the quieter life, the beautiful weather and indulged in quality family time over the weekend where possible.
Of course, we poured ourselves a large Barra G&T on Saturday evening to toast World Gin Day and thoroughly enjoyed viewing posts over social media of everyone’s Gin and Tonic’s that our Island Spirit was tagged in. We love to see your creations of our Island Spirit, whether it be the classic serve, an improvised pour or a creative cocktail – keep them coming!
And whilst the demand of our Barra Atlantic Gin remains at large, we did spend the majority of the weekend working away behind the scenes in the Distillery. We’re keeping busy distilling more batches of our Gin, bottling it up and getting it ready to be posted to you for your own enjoyment. Our small team is working round the clock to produce and ship as much Gin as we can in order to keep up with the high demand.
In fact, we even arranged to have a batch of our orders shipped from Castlebay to Oban via Ferry and driven to Glasgow’s Royal Mail Centre where each package could be sorted through efficiently on the mainland to enable a quicker delivery for customers during this time. As our mail goes on a long journey of its own through the Western Isles before reaching the Highlands and being driven down to Glasgow for sorting, we wanted to go the extra mile (pardon the pun)!
Being able to make our Island Spirit on our beautiful homeland during the day and enjoying a taste at night from the comfort of our home, appears to be the perfect way to enjoy World Gin Day.
We were blessed with glorious sunshine over the weekend, which is always a bonus. And enjoyed a stroll to one of the many beautiful beaches Barra has to offer as a family. It’s as good as being in the Caribbean or Maldives, wouldn’t you agree? To be able to do this after a day’s work is incredible and we pinch ourselves daily to remember how lucky we are to come from such a stunning part of the world.
We’ve been hearing from many customers how much they are missing their trip to the Outer Hebrides this year and we do hope we can welcome you in the future when normality returns and we are all safe and sound. We hope that you are all remaining safe and well during this time.
Thank you to each and everyone of you that have supported us through COVID-19 by purchasing a bottle of our Barra Atlantic Gin, it means the world to us!
