The Isle of Barra is renowned for whisky, with the obvious connection to the famous Whisky Galore, but we have much more than just that to offer. Our whisky will be a true reflection of our island home, it will carry a piece of Barra in every bottle.
We are all about making a positive contribution to our island community. Making life on Barra more sustainable. Living, as we do, in such a remote location isn't easy with many young people regularly leaving the island in search of greater opportunities.
Most of our team did it, we’re very glad to have been able to return. We hope our distillery will help reverse this trend. Creating attractive jobs and enabling people to thrive.
In turn, this is why in 2021, we established the Isle of Barra Whisky Distillers Foundation.
