Standing out in the Atlantic on the far western edge of Scotland, you’ll find our home, our distillery.
Distilled and bottled on the remote Scottish Island of Barra, our gin has a piece of our home in each bottle.
We are Scotland’s most westerly distillery.

Our copper stills
We want to welcome you to our new copper still, named "Ada" after a special little lady, that might one day be using this very same still.
Custom built & fitted by the incredible team at Forsyths, who travelled up to the Isle of Barra to install, what would be, the first still built by Forsyths, in the Outer Hebrides.
From Scotland’s most westerly distillery
Our Island Spirit is distilled, botted, labelled and packaged in our distillery located in Castlebay Business Estate, Isle of Barra. Once our Gin has found a welcoming home to go to, our island spirit makes a fair journey from Scotland’s most westerly distillery to your home. It’s safe to say our Barra Atlantic Gin is a highflyer and enjoys a cruise of the Outer Hebrides before embarking on its journey across the mainland to reach your home.
Every bottle is shipped out by our dedicated team, we work round the clock to produce and ship as much gin as we can to keep up with the high demand.
From our first batch of gin back in August 2017 to today, Isle of Barra Distillers continues to operate as a very small family-run company. The story began with husband and wife Michael and Katie, now the team has grown to six, with Debbie handling all our customer related departments & Andrew & Iain making sure all our orders head off to make their journey to your door. Our team may be small, but we all work passionately to build and strengthen the Isle of Barra Distillers together. A company so close to our hearts and our Island home is the major drive behind the Isle of Barra Distillers continuous success.
We’ve created a premium gin with a distinctive taste so it has been important to us for this to be reflected in the packaging too, and make the finished product as unique on shelf and online as it is in the mouth.
Jemma Lewis, a hand-marbling artist based in Wiltshire, England was commissioned by the creative team behind Barra Atlantic Gin to create a bespoke, hand-marbled pattern to be used throughout our packaging.
Taking a colour palette inspired by Barra’s landscape and shores, Jemma used our signature botanical, carrageen, to create the unique marbling patterns which forms a physical link between our gin and packaging.
Packaged By hand
Our dedicated team are a force to be reckoned with. We're kept busy distilling more batches of our gin, bottling it up and packaging your orders by hand to be sent out to you for you to enjoy the Island spirit at home.
Smallest Carbon Footprint
Our shipments leave only a small carbon footprint throughout its extensive journey from us to you. We utilise existing methods of public transport links to send our gin to the mainland and beyond.
From our home to yours
Our 18th Century ancestors left Barra and voyaged into the unknown to become new world pioneers. Their spirit embodies ours as we venture forth fearlessly to take the best of Barra to the world.
