The Isle of Barra makes you feel alive, it makes you feel free. The wild winds matched with the calm, tranquil days, the warm, gentle summer nights contrasted with the harsh days that winter provides. These are the elements that inspire the Isle of Barra Distillers, the Isle of Barra’s first distillery.

OUR HOME

The Isle of Barra is a true island paradise—from deep blue seas and vibrant green landscapes to tropical white sands, it’s hard to believe this hidden gem is part of Scotland.

Inspired by the island’s natural beauty, our spirits  created the award-winning Barra Atlantic Gin—a bold, island-born spirit that captures the essence of our home.

At the heart of our gin is sustainably hand-harvested carrageen seaweed, sourced from the shores of Barra. This unique botanical, tied to Michael’s childhood, grows from the ancient coastal rocks and can only be gathered when tides are at their lowest—just a few times each year.

At the heart of Isle of Barra Distillers are the people who call this island home. With your support and our continued efforts, we aim to strengthen Barra’s fragile economy—creating new jobs, offering hope to younger generations, and helping more families build a future here.

We’re deeply committed to our island, our environment, and the wider world. Even our mail reflects this—every order is hand-packed and travels via existing public transport routes. Before reaching the mainland in Inverness, it passes through six islands, one ferry, and two flights—helping us reduce our carbon footprint while staying connected to our roots.
